| High On The Ocean Waves | ||

The Saga Sapphire is a spectacular cruise liner that has recently undergone a multimillion pound refurbishment before setting sail on her inaugural cruise from Southampton during March 2012. Following successful projects for sister ships Saga Ruby and Saga Pearl II, we were delighted to be invited to Palermo in Sicily, where the Saga Sapphire was undergoing a full refurbishment. We were asked to commission the lighting control systems for all of their public and internal leisure areas on board this fabulous cruise liner. We implemented the easy to use lighting control systems for their auditorium for stage shows, bands etc, their various bars, their learning room for lectures and seminars etc, a delightful piano bar and library as well as all the restaurants. We also commissioned the lighting control for their East to West specialist restaurant that provides fusion and Chinese dishes. We ensured that the lighting control met their requirements of the designer, and the ship's crew. Repeat business from our existing clients is always a good sign that they liked and respected our previous work and we are very pleased to be working with Saga again. Last month we delivered a very interesting project on the south coast. We were invited to provide the lighting control solution for a number of ecclesiastical buildings at a large religious complex. We worked closely with the lighting designer to ensure that we fully understood their requirements and were then able to identify all of the necessary equipment, and then provide the complex solution to achieve their original vision of linking all the buildings together. Once this was agreed, we implemented and commissioned the final solution and we are delighted to report that both our design partners and the end clients were thrilled with the result. | The Ultimate Remote Control | ||

Another recent project enabled us to visit an idyllic venue on the beautiful Irish coast. Our clients were looking to control both the central heating and all of the external and internal lighting in every room of their apartment directly from their iPads or any world-wide computer This was a fascinating project, not only because of the gorgeous location, but also because the lighting control solution enables them to do so much more than adjust the settings in the current room from the comfort of their sofas. For example, a security programme can be run to switch various lights on and off in a seemingly random fashion to give the impression that the house is occupied all year round. However, our clients' favourite feature is that when they are away from the venue they can remotely turn up the heating and schedule the lighting so that their Irish property is at the perfect temperature with warm welcoming lighting to greet them as they arrive at their front door… If you require remote access to your lighting controls, email us at: solution@control-lighting.com. | ||

Congratulations to our friends at Light Bureau, who took home the award for best workplace lighting at the recent Lighting Design Awards 2012. Light Bureau were awarded the prize for the Bupa Wellness West End project. The Workplace Lighting category covers schemes where the emphasis is on employee-centred lighting, including offices, call centres, factories, hospitals, educational establishments, police stations etc...
